Bernard Tomic made it all the way through to the semi-finals before bowing out to Canadian Milos Raonic 6 – 4 6 - 4 in the Queen’s Club lead-up to the Wimbledon Championships.

Tomic has a reputation of being highly proficient at the lawn version of tennis, which is slowly going the way of the dinosaurs, due perhaps to the wives not being able to get the husbands to mow the lawns properly or on schedule.

Tomic appears to be rounding into top form, but he will have to some issues with back soreness if he is to advance as far at the All England Club as he did in 2011, when he made it through to the quarters.

The latest rankings have Tomic at number 20, one spot behind Nick Kyrgios, who warmed Tomic up before the match with Raonic, a sign perhaps that relationships have been repaired from the Davis Cup spat in which the two engaged back in March.

In surprising news, but not as surprising as some news once was, due to the growing number of athletes who retire, only to un-retire, Lleyton Hewitt is looking under his bed and the backs of his wardrobes to find his racquet for a surprise appearance in The Championships, where he gained admittance via a wildcard.
