SPORTSBET TAKING ON FIORENTE… AGAIN

We are obviously suckers for punishment.

Having taken on Fiorente twice in the past and coming off more than $800,000 worse off for it, online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au is ‘Taking On’ Fiorente again at The BMW tomorrow as Rosehill.

Fiorente ($3.60) remains favourite for the Rosehill Group 1. Here is a look at betting moves for tomorrow’s huge meeting at Rosehill and other venues.

ROSEHILL
Race 4 – Emancipation Stakes
Punters only have eyes for Catkins here. Almost half the money has been for the Chris Waller trained mare which opened at $1.70 and is into $1.60. Second favourite Sharnee Rose is solid at $8.00 and Lorna May ($15), from the in-form Hawkes stable has admirers.

Race 5 – Tulloch Stakes
Atlante and Pheidon share favouritism. Atlante was a little easy early in the week, but firmed from $4.80 to $4.40 with the possibility of a drier track. Good support for the Darley runner, Shikra, chases the hat-trick and $9.00 in from $10.

Race 6 - The BMW
Plenty of punters taking advantage of our “Take Us On’’ offer with Fiorente ($3.60). The Melbourne Cup winner is the best backed. Silent Achiever gave him a bath in the Ranvet and plenty believe the mare can do it again ($5.00 into $3.80). Kiwi It’s A Dundeel ($4.20) unwanted earlier in the week, but gaining admirers as race day nears. Money suggests outsiders Sertorius ($10) and Foreteller ($12) could strike a knock-out blow.

Race 7 – Vinery Stakes
Betting shows there is half a dozen good chances among the three-year-old fillies. Topweight Solicit ($4.80) heads the market, just, over Rising Romance ($5.00). Several nice wagers for Interspeed ($13 into $11) and Suavito ($15 into $11), while Zanbagh ($6.50) is easy, but still has plenty of supporters. A nibble midweek for Arctic Lass ($51).

Race 8 – Golden Slipper
The Darley camp assure all is well with Earthquake, but a virus scare is probably behind the star filly getting the blows. The Blue Diamond winner has eased from $2.30 to $2.60 favourite, while second pick Mossfun has firmed from $5.00 to $4.60. Best money to beat the favourite is for Unencumbered ($19-$17). Trainer Gai Waterhouse has two chances to equal her dad Tommy’s record of six Slippers and both have had support. Law is $151 into $101 and Valentia solid at $26. Bring me The Maid ($11), Ghibellines ($11) and Cornrow ($15) also have admirers.

FLEMINGTON
Race 1 - Three-Year-Old Fillies Plate
Punters have shied away from topweight Soosa Rama ($3.50-$4.20), who strives to remain unbeaten in four starts. Debut winner River Delta is popular and firm favourite at $2.25.

Race 7 – Braybrook Handicap
Big drop in grade for Shamal Wind and punters happy to bet up. The Robert Smerdon trained mare holds around 55 percent of wagers and is $3.20 into $3.10. Pocket Rockets ($5.00) has received support along with Henwood and Decircles, both into $6.50.

EAGLE FARM
Race 6 – Class 6 Plate
Smart Rockhampton sprinter Vandalised was hammered as soon as markets went up. Money has continued for the five year-old, who is $13 into $7.00. Harada Bay ($2.60) eased slightly, but has received support and holds favouritism. Lightweight Kentucky Woman is also solid at her quote of $7.00.

Race 7 – Three-Year-Old Fillies Plate
A race of many chances with punters finding it hard to single one out. Some Call Her Wild ($5.00) tops the chart, but six other runners are under double figures. Early money for Beatniks ($8.50) and Navelina ($15-$13).
