It will be a battle for Queensland supremacy in week two of the 2016 NRL finals.

The Broncos will take the jaunt from Brisbane to Townsville to play the Cowboys, who will be looking for blood after a narrow loss on Saturday night to the minor premier Melbourne Storm.

The other game will be Canberra against the surging Penrith Panthers.

The first semifinal will take place Friday evening at 1300Smiles Stadium between the North Queensland Cowboys and the Brisbane Broncos.

GIO Stadium hosts the other semifinal on Saturday evening when the Canberra Raiders take on the Penrith Panthers.

Sportsbet favours the Cowboys, 1.47 to the Broncos 2.70. The other game looks delicious, too close to call, a coin toss essentially, as the Canberra Raiders are slight favourites over the Penrith Panthers, 1.80 to 2.00. Looks as though whoever loses, the bookies win.

As far as the odds for the NRL 2016 Grand Final are concerned, the Melbourne Storm leads the pack at 1.35, followed by the Cronulla Sharks at 1.85, the North Queensland Cowboys at 2.75, the Brisbane Broncos tied with the Canberra Raiders at 5.00 and the Penrith Panthers at 5.50.

The odds for the 2016 Grand Final winner follow a similar pattern, but there are higher stakes to be had, for example, the Storm is priced at 2.65 compared with the 1.35 for them making it to the Grand Final.
