Pop star Samantha Jade has emerged as the punters’ pick to represent Australia at Eurovision, with bookie Sportingbet.com.au forced to slash her odds from $8 into $4 after a flurry of bets for the 27- -year-old.
Jessica Mauboy’s odds have also shortened from $9 into $6 second favouritism with Sportingbet, while 5 Seconds Of Summer have tumbled in from $19 to $10 third favouritism.
Former top pick Guy Sebastian has been mostly friendless with punters and his odds have drifted from $9 to $17.
“Our punters are convinced that Samantha is the girl for the job,” said Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown.
“We’ve taken three times more bets for Samantha compared to any other artist.”
Towards the bottom of the market, punters can get odds of $251 about Prince Phillip representing Australia, or the juicy odds of $1001 about Channel Seven’s The Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.
“Despite those succulent odds and their obvious singing talent, we haven’t seen any bets for Larry and Kylie as yet.”
Sportingbet is offering odds of $11 for Australia to win Eurovision 2015.
