Jamie Whincup will enter Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 as the favourite, but punters with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au are tipping Shane Van Gisbergen can pull off an upset and win the event for the second time.
Whincup, having won four times, is the man to beat at $4.00, but Van Gisbergen has been the best backed at $6.00.
Even Scott McLaughlin has received more bets than Whincup at $7.00.
Punters have turned their backs on veteran Mark Winterbottom, with only a handful of bets coming for him at $9.50.
“Whincup has dominated the Clipsal, but punters are looking for a bit of value and have identified Van Gisbergen as the one to be on at $6.00. Given he won only two years ago, they might be onto a winner,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
