A punter who has placed 39 individual bets on Alex Johnston to be the NRL’s leading try scorer of 2014 will be seriously hoping the South Sydney star adds to his season tally of 15 when the Rabbitohs take on the Brisbane Broncos tomorrow night.

The Sportingbet.com.au punter stands to collect a whopping $19,229 from a total investment of $379 should Johnston finish the season with the most number of tries.

“This punter has just kept chipping away at Johnston since Round 16, backing him at odds between $41 and $101,” William Hill’s Andrew Brown said.

“It seems every time the punter has had a spare tenner or so it’s gone on the Souths winger and there’s been some days where he’s backed Johnston multiple times.”

Johnston is now a $6 second favourite at Sportingbet behind Jarryd Hayne ($3.25), despite having scored one try less than Semi Radradra ($7), Jarrod Croker ($8), Peta Hiku ($8), Sisa Waqa ($8) and Dale Copley ($9).

“Johnston’s 15 tries have come from just 11 games and that sensational average hasn’t been missed by our punters.”
