Change is constant for all of us, and the NRL is no exception, with many clubs undergoing major overhauls ahead of 2017, with a few remaining largely intact, yet for some, 2017 will hopefully produce vastly different results. Overall, the upcoming season will differ substantially from the one just past.
With the pre-season upcoming, here is a look at how some of the clubs shake out.
The Cronulla Sharks suffered a huge blow when Ben Barba could not refrain from powdering his nose. One cannot help but think that the Sharks will be weakened by the shifts they will have to make as a result.
The Melbourne Storm still has a roster worthy of a top four side next season, despite losing back-rower Kevin Proctor to Gold Coast. They also lost Blake Green to Manly and will depend going forward on the contribution of Cameron Munster.
Canberra Raiders have stood pat for the most part and they could be favourites to continue and finally earn a premiership in 2017. Early futures betting would seem to bear that out.
The North Queensland Cowboys should still show well, even if they are a bit weaker for losing James Tamou unless bench player Scott Bolton can fill the void created by Tamou’s absence.
