The news that actor Daniel Craig will play James Bond for a fourth time in Spectre has once again ignited debate over just who will replace the 46-year-old as 007.

Sportingbet.com.au has Chris Hemsworth as its top Aussie chance at odds of $21, while Sam Worthington ($26) and Hugh Jackman ($51) also feature in the online bookie’s market. It’s long odds of $101 that Russell Crowe will get the gig.

English actor Tom Hardy is popular with punters and tops Sportingbet’s market at $4, in front of Idris Elba ($5), Michael Fassbender ($6.50) and Richard Armitage ($9).

“Craig has proved a big hit with Bond fans but unlike diamonds, he can’t be 007 forever,” William Hill’s Andrew Brown said.

“We’d love to see one of our own suit up as the secret agent next and Hemsworth looks the best bet of the Aussie brigade at this point.”
