Slayer of giants Mitchell Moses is moving on from Johnathan Thurston and has schemes to ground Jarryd Hayne when the in-form Wests Tigers five-eighth lines up across from Hayne when they play the Gold Coast Titans.

The Titans need a good showing not only from Hayne, but from the rest of the squad as well, if they are to sneak into the finals. They have 24 competition points and only points differential has them on the outside.

A loss by either side will have serious implications for playing beyond the regular season. With round 23 looming, there will be limited opportunities to make up ground, so this game seems to be one with compelling story lines.

Moses has been a stalwart for the Tigers in their past three matches and has elevated his game to another level since the injury to halfback Luke Brooks and the demotion of Robbie Farah.

It might seem like a lot of pressure to put on the back of a 21-year-old player, but Coach Jason Taylor has expressed supreme confidence in Moses. Moses credits Taylor with his leap in productivity.

His recent play has ignited talk of Moses having a future five-eighth in Origin, which should certainly add fuel to his fire.
