The odds of Dr Bill Glasson winning Saturday’s Griffith by-election have firmed from $8 into $4.25 with online bookmaker Sportingbet after strong late support for the Liberal National candidate.
Labor candidate Terri Butler remains a clear-cut favourite, but her odds have eased from $1.06 to $1.20 at Sportingbet.
“Dr Glasson was friendless last week but the money has been coming in 70/30 in his favour over the last few days,” William Hill’s Andrew Brown said.
“The odds still suggest a Ms Butler victory but punters are now giving Dr Glasson an outside chance of creating an upset.”
Sportingbet is offering a market for the exact two-party preferred result of the election, with Labor to win with 51.00%-51.99% of the vote the $4.25 favourite in front of Labor winning with between 52.00%-52.99% at $4.50.
