Supercars driver Jason Bright has gone public with the announcement of his intention to do something different at the end of 2016, leaving the Brad Jones Racing outfit he joined in 2010.
During his seven seasons with Jones Racing, during which he won four races and earned seven poles. Most of the team success began to accumulate in 2013 when the Car of the Future era began.
Bright won for the first time in Supercars at Perth in 2011. He won the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy in 2013, the first year for the award. Bright was the driver who replaced New Zealand racer as the driver of the Jones number eight car.
Bright has not divulged his future plans, nor has BJR nominated a driver to serve in Bright’s stead, but the departure seems to be an amicable one, as was the situation when it was a gentleman’s agreement that saw him racing for Jones in the first place.
Bright has been racing Supercars for the better part of 20 years, having made his 500th start in Townsville last year.
Both Bright and Jones had complimentary things to say about the other, and those things sounded entirely sincere, and totally devoid of the veiled animosity that often permeates these sorts of relationship conclusions.
