If you do not like the outcome, change the process, or words to that effect, would seem to be the operating principle for the Hawks and the Swans heading into the fifth round of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership competition.

More simply: Try something different.

Knowing that desperate times call for desperate measures, the two sides will ground revamped lists for the next round as they seek to change the misfortunes that have clouded their early seasons.

The Hawks will play West Coast, but former Sun San Mitchell will miss the reunion due to an ankle injury. His side beat the hapless Swans last Thursday night, but Mitchell was hurt in a run-in with one of his own teammates. He originally expressed confidence that he would be ready to pile on his former Hawks teammates, but that does not now appear to be the case, as his ankle has proven more problematic that expected.

The Sydney Swans have made big changes and they move into their game against the “other” Sydney side, the GWS Giants.

They will see four players return from injury, which is welcome news, but they also will debut Lewis Melican in place of Aliir Allir. Oliver Florent, Nic Newman and Robbie Fox will also be off the list for the upcoming game.
