Relax racing fans. Jarryd Hayne is not running in the Cox Plate, the Caulfield Cup, or the Melbourne Cup, but Australia’s premier code hopper will be seen playing golf alongside Aussie golf star Steven Bowditch at a pro-am event held in Fiji.

Haynes’ estimable sports resume is expanding once again in the charity pro-am event that will raise money that will go to help the recovery efforts of Fiji from the effects of Cyclone Winston earlier this year.

Other players who have chosen to devote their time to the even include Vijay (The Big Fijian) Singh, Aussie Robert Allenby and American Brandt Snedeker.

Despite those impressive names, PGA Tour of Australasia honcho Brian Thorburn says it is Hayne who he expects to be one of the biggest drawing cards to the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

The Fiji International, is considered by some to be Fiji’s largest sporting event, although rugby sevens supporters might dispute that claim.

For his part, Hayne is excited at the prospect of teeing it up alongside two-time PGA Tour winner Bowditch, but he has been mum on the subject of picking up the clubs as his next career move.
