In terms of complete certainty, the sports management form of Nat Fyfe has dismissed reports suggesting that the 2015 Brownlow Medal winner would be dealt to the St. Kilda Saints.
Stride Sports was stridently, perhaps vehemently, dismissive of the reports, categorising them as “100 per cent” false.
The word was out that Fyfe would jump to St. Kilda next season and on the surface, would have had some credence, since if true, Fyfe would not be the first athlete from the wilds of Western Australia to seek fame and fortune under the bright lights of the big city.
Fyfe is on record publicly as avowing that he would not consider a move without giving the Dockers a first up opportunity.
The talented midfielder is erasing all doubts about his recovery from the injuries that effectively wiped out his 2016 AFL season. He has taken part in all six of the Dockers games in the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership competition. He is averaging just under 27 disposals per game and has even booted a few goals, although he has yet to attract one solitary Brownlow vote to this point.
For reasons obvious and for reasons less obvious, Fyfe will be one of the most highly sought free agents and more than one of the Victorian clubs would be interested in his services.
One of the primary sources of the Fyfe rumour was a radio talk show, which quoted an anonymous “high-ranking board member” of the Saints.
