Andrew Bogut and the Dallas Mavericks went to the pleasant climes of Los Angeles recently and collected their first road victory of the year, a 109 – 97 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bogut did not have a good shooting night, making only one of five attempts, but to his credit, the big man typically does not take a lot of shots and is a contributor more for his rebounding, shot blocking and assists.

The 2016 – 2017 NBA season had a dismal start for Bogut and his Maverick mates. They lost five consecutive to start the season before winning their last two to show some signs of life.

In other NBA action, the Cleveland Cavaliers departed from the ranks of the unbeaten, losing their first game of the season by the score of 110 – 106 to the Atlanta Hawks. LeBron James had only two points in the first half, but added 21 in the second to raise his game total to 23.

The Memphis Grizzlies produced a buzzer-beater at game’s end to record a 108 – 107 win over the Denver Nuggets. An inbounds pass from Vince Carter to Grizzlies’ big man Marc Gasol, inexplicably defended by Nuggets’ guard Emanuel Mudiay, came with less than a second left on the clock.
