Hometown sprint hero Lankan Rupee has been backed into joint favouritism for Saturday’s Lightning Stakes at Flemington.
Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au reports a strong move for Lankan Rupee, who has firmed into $2.25 after opening $2.80. Sydney sprinter Deep Field is given a similar hope at $2.40, for the Flemington Group 1.
“Lankan Rupee has a bit of a cult following while Deep Field is the new kid on the block. The punters have it down to those two, but more than double the money has gone on Lankan Rupee,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
