Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has opened betting on the Country and Provincial Championships.

The Greg Bennett trained In A Wink ($4.50) heads betting for the Country title, but it is far from a one horse race.

American Time looks likely to give In A Wink the most trouble at $5.50, but Ainzali can’t be overlooked at $6.50, while King of England ($8.50) and Bright Move ($9.00) are also in the hunt.

“This should be a fantastic series. Punters will get to see the best of the country and provincial gallopers, racing on the same days as some of the best thoroughbreds in the world,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Newcastle trainer Kris Lees is expected to hold a strong hand in the Provincial series. He has the top two in betting, Savoureus ($4.50) and Selectify ($5.50). However Hulk Henry could spoil the party, given the next best hope at $6.00.
