Andrew Bogut, despite being given some role in the decision by the Golden State Warriors to send him packing, that being his input into the move to the Dallas Mavericks, is not happy with his role on one of the NBA’s worst teams.
He does not foresee being with Dallas beyond the end of the season, and it may turn out that he is sent off sooner than that, as he is at the back end of his respectable NBA career. He has been moved to a bench role, at his own request, in order to make way for the return of Dirk Nowitzki.
Bogut could be moved before the February trade deadline, but in his own words, “Thankfully, I’m a free agent here so I only have a couple of months more here and then will most likely move on. I don’t see myself hanging around with everything that’s gone on. It will be an interesting six months ahead.”
Bogut does possess value as a trade asset. He is in the final year of a three-year deal he signed with Golden State in 2014, so another team could grab him in order to waive him and create salary cap space. A move of that nature would enable Bogut to target a new team of his choosing, one that would consider taking on his large salary in return for a 32- year-old defender and rebounder.
