As the 2016 – 2017 NBA season wends its way toward the mid-point, Andrew Bogut is proving to be a good acquisition for the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks, however, are having a tough go for the most part, occupying the lower rungs of the NBA Western Conference ladder.

The Golden State Warriors had to make some salary cap room when they had the good fortune to land Kevin Durant during the offseason free agency period. True professional that he has been since entering the NBA in 2005, Bogut accepted that at 32 years of age, the Warriors could not afford to pay him his market rate, but he was still grateful for four seasons with Golden State, including a 2015 NBA Championship, and the honour of having some say in his next stop.

His playing time has gone up around five minutes per game with the Mavericks, and his offensive and defensive rebounds averages have also seen a nice increase.

At a salary of just over $11 million USD per season, Bogut is the fourth highest paid player on the team, trailing only Dirk Nowitzki, Harrison Barnes, and Wesley Matthews on 15-man active roster.

If Bogut or NBA market forces were to declare time on his NBA career following this season, he would have to be considered the most successful Australian to date to ever have donned an NBA uniform.
