The AFLW got off to a good jump last year and the serach is on for new players ahead of the 2018 AFLW season.
The draft for next season is imminent and there are some highly sought players.
Young Isabel Huntingdon is considered a once in a generation player. Just 18, she has the skills and physical attributes to play anywhere on the field. The only x factor regarding her is that she has not played at all due the recovery necessitated by an ACL injury.
Chloe Molloy has got the scouts drooling, as she has all the skills, along with a mentality that lends itself to good on-field decisions. She is just 19 and spends most of her time as a forward, but that does not imply that like Huntingdon, she could move around and still be a prime asset.
Midfielder Monique Conti will help the middle of any side. She is an extremely valuable acquisition for any of the AFLW teams, but she plays for the Melbourne Bloomers of the WNBL and her commitments to that league could infringe on her ability and time to play footy.
Seventeen-year-old Darcy Guttridge from Gippsland is another that could go with one of the earlier selections. She is strong as an inside midfielder, but she can also play half-back and forward, versatility that is desirable to any side building its list.
A strong marker and kicker, Eden Zanker is just returning to football, but her speed and aggressiveness make her a natural talent.
There are several others that should be taken with the early picks, but space limitations preclude us from profiling all of them.
The Western Bulldogs have the first, fourth and eleventh pick, along with numbers 19, 27 and 34. Fremantle has two top-10 picks, two and 10. Collingwood likewise has two top-10s with three and nine.
The Carlton Blues, naturally, are at the bottom of the heap, having no selections higher than 12. Brisbane will have eight selections, ranging from seven all the way down to 48.
