With the 2016 AFL season getting underway in just over a fortnight, the news continues to flood in as teams prepare for the NAB Challenge prior to the beginning of the home-and-away season.

Geelong ruckman Rhys Stanley believes he will be recovered in time to play at least part of the NAB Challenge as he completes a long rehab from a serious foot injury. He has been working with the main training group after being hurt in round 11 of last season.

Freemantle 2015 Brownlow Medal winner Nat Fyfe appeared to be fit and made a smooth transition back to training for the Dockers. Fyfe appears to be near to full fitness. Monday’s training session was Fyfe’s first since a bulging disc in his back caused serious concern just before Christmas.

Essendon has added ruckman Mark Jamar for 2016. Jamar played 155 games for Melbourne over 13 seasons and he is the latest veteran to participate in the Bomber’s top-up to replace 12 suspended players. Port Adelaide had also shown interest in Jamar.

Port’s major recruit, Charlie Dixon, will likely be observing the proceedings from the sidelines after knee surgery to repair a minor cartilage in his left knee will probably see him missing four to six weeks.
