Round 16 of the 2016 AFL season did not offer a lot of drama and form prevailed. The Swans beating the Cats at Simonds Stadium was one of the closer affairs of the week and the Western Bulldogs and Richmond Tigers had an entertaining game for the 40,000 spectators in Etihad Stadium, a game the Dogs won by 10 points.
The Hawks had no trouble with Port at the Adelaide Oval. The Hawks have been giving every indication of a team saving its best play for when it matters.
Collingwood Tigers knocked off the lesser Sydney team, beating the Giants 125 – 93.
Gold Coast Eagles took down the Brisbane Lions 139 – 113 and the Demons had an easy time of it against the Dockers, winning a low-scoring affair by the score of 85 – 75.
The Crows did not seem to suffer much from playing the Carlton Blues at MCG, winning 107 – 47, and West Coast got past the free-falling Kangaroos 104 – 72.
The Saints defeated the Essendon Bombers 109 – 98 to close out the round.
The top-eight at this point are Hawthorn, Sydney, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, West Coast, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney and North Melbourne. Number nine Port trails number eight North Melbourne by 12 points.
