Adam Scott continues to sizzle, the short putter causing no issues as he heads into the final round of the WGC Cadillac Championships at Doral’s Blue Monster.
He won last week and finished second the week before, erasing all doubt regarding his form as he tunes up for The Masters in April.
Scott will have to defend against a pack of formidable competitors, including Rory McIlroy, who, when he drives the ball as he has been this week, makes something of a mockery of the game by hitting wedges into greens on par four holes that for the average player might be scored as par fives.
American Dustin Johnson, probably the closest to Scott in terms of being a superb athlete that just happens to be a professional golfer, shot a 64 in the second round to serve notice that his form is nothing to disregard. Even veteran Phil Mickelson is in shouting distance of the leaders and Lefty could easily use his position further down the leaders’ list to sneak into the clubhouse with one of his famous final round charges.
World number two Jason Day is well down the list, as is world number one Jordan Spieth.
