The Gai Waterhouse trained import Tres Blue continues to attract heavy support at Sportingbet to win the 2013 Melbourne Cup.
A $51 chance as recently as September 9, the lightly raced four-year-old is now $19 at Sportingbet.
“We were hit with a wave of bets two weeks back and they’ve come for him again now that the horse has arrived safely in Melbourne,” William Hill’s Andrew Brown said.
“We took a couple of significant four-figure bets for him on Saturday afternoon and he’s been $26 into $19 since Wednesday,” Brown said.
“Of the internationals, it’s fair to say he is our worst result at the moment,” Brown said.
Voleuse De Coeurs ($26 into $13), Verema ($31 into $14) and Brown Panther ($61 into $41) have also been well supported at Sportingbet.
“There’s definitely been a spike in interest in the internationals since the second shipment arrived,”
“The only exception is 2011 winner Dunaden which we’ve barely been able to write a bet for,” Brown said.
Dunaden has drifted from $21 to $41 at Sportingbet, while the horse he edged out in the 2011 Cup, Red Cadeaux, has been steady at $51.
