The Seattle Seahawks are $5.50 favourites with bookmaker Sportingbet to win Super Bowl XLIX following their impressive 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

Seattle has been installed favourite in front of the San Francisco 49ers at $7 and the New England Patriots at $7.50. The Broncos are $8 fourth favourites.

“This could be the start of a long period of dominance for the Seahawks,” William Hill’s Andrew Brown said.

“Their young squad and ‘Legion Of Boom’ secondary will clearly set the standard next season and they are deserving favourites to go back to back.”

The Seahawks started as $2.10 outsiders at Sportingbet for Super Bowl XLIX, with Denver heavily backed $1.78 favourites.

More than $1 million was wagered on the Super Bowl with Sportingbet with one punter successfully placing a $40,000 wager on a Seahawks victory.
