Emirates Melbourne Cup Parade & Media Conference

On Monday the race that stops a nation will bring the city of Melbourne to a standstill with the Emirates Melbourne Cup Parade as it makes its way down Swanston Street to Federation Square between 12noon – 2pm.

Media wishing to access participants in the parade for interviews or vision must meet at the marshalling point before the Parade to receive accreditation, even if they already have Melbourne Cup Carnival media accreditation.

Tens of thousands of onlookers will line the streets on a perfect spring day to watch the iconic parade as the Emirates Melbourne Cup is escorted through the city.

The Emirates Melbourne Cup Parade will feature the jockeys and trainers in this year’s $6.2 million Emirates Melbourne Cup, while the Acting Lord Mayor Susan Riley and VRC Chairman Michael Burn will carry the $175,000 Emirates Melbourne Cup to the official media conference in Federation Square.

The Myer Fashions on the Field State Finalists, the Ambassador Rebeccah Panozza, and the MCs Jeff Banks and Nikki Phillips will represent the incredible fashions of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Living legends, both equine and human, will be honoured with Might And Power, Doriemus, Brew, Rogan Josh, Paris Lane and Efficient joining the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour Ambassadors who have accompanied the Cup on its 34 destination journey around Australia and New Zealand.

The First Lady of Australian Racing and 2013 Emirates Melbourne Cup winning trainer, Gai Waterhouse, will travel the route in a horse drawn carriage.

Ambassadors Helena and Vicky for food rescue organisation SecondBite, the Melbourne Cup Carnival Pin & Win charity partner, will encourage fans to purchase a lapel pin to enter the draw to win incredible prizes including a Lexus IS 250 F Sport Sedan and one million Emirates Skywards Miles.

Participants will be swept down Swanston Street in a sea of colour, featuring the Mansfield High Country Horsemen, ponies, primary school children dressed in jockey silks, Emirates cabin crew, dancers and musical performers.

At the end of the Parade, the Emirates Melbourne Cup jockeys and trainers will give their thoughts at the official media conference ahead of Tuesday’s big race.

More than 100,000 racegoers are expected at Flemington on Tuesday for the $6.2 million Emirates Melbourne Cup, the world’s richest handicap race.

Tickets for the Melbourne Cup Carnival racedays are still available for purchase from Flinders Street, Southern Cross and North Melbourne train stations or racegoers can jump the queues and buy online from Ticketek via mobile phones.
