Caulfield Cup favourite Hawkspur has drifted out to $5.50 to win the Caulfield Cup with Sportingbet Australia.

A $4.20 favourite before drawing barrier 16 on Tuesday, Hawkspur’s odds have drifted from $4.80 out to $5.50 today.

“We are taking on Hawkspur so we have gone up best price in Australia. He’s going to need plenty of luck from that draw first time around Caulfield, we think he is a $5.50 chance and could get out even further,” Sportingbet’s Michael Felgate said.

Trainer Chris Waller also has the second favourite in Caulfield Cup betting, Royal Descent who has firmed from $7 into $6.50.

“Of the two Waller runners we have seen more support for Royal Descent and I wouldn’t be surprised his she pushes for favouritism tomorrow,” Felgate said.

International raider Dandino has been on the nose with punters since drawing barrier 19 and has drifted from $7.50 out to $9 but there has been good support for Silent Achiever $9 into $8, Jet Away $10 into $9 and Fawkner $13 into $12.

“We have taken more money for Silent Achiever and Jet Away in the past 24 hours than any other runner and we expect they will continue to be well backed.” Felgate said.

Punters have also launched a few longshot plunges with WA galloper Mr Moet attracting very good each-way support firming from $34 into $21, My Quest For Peace backed from $51 into $31, Kellini $51 into $41 and Gai Waterhouse’s runners Julienas $34 to $26 and Glencadam Gold $51 into $41.
